Monday Motivation

I love coming to work, and Monday morning has always represented a positive challenge that sets the tone for the rest of the week. I feel good about coming to work because I love what I do. If you develop a positive outlook and surround yourself with an encouraging team, your ability to become a more effective manager will be easier. Begin by taking a proactive approach when examining your personal working situation, determine where you can improve and then make the necessary adjustments.

Since I enjoy what I do, I also feel more confident, which allows me to become even more productive. If you have a negative attitude about your work, you need to closely examine what you are doing and determine whether it's right for you. If you find that your job is the right one for you, determine what your specific problem might be. A challenging boss or the feeling that you are "way over your head" can cause you to feel uninspired or even frightened about confronting your workplace. To solve these hypothetical problems, you could approach the boss or get more education to bring you up to the standards so you won't feel so overwhelmed. The bottom line is you have to do something.

Planning ahead is a requirement if you are going to be effective at work and in your personal life. There are many methods of keeping a personal schedule to better handle your daily stress. You can take a pen and paper and write it down or use a more high tech method of keep your schedule like a PDA or even your cell phone. Maintaining your schedule is imperative if you are ever going to accomplish your short- and long-term goals. If you know where you're going and have a plan to get there, then you will be able to maintain a more positive attitude.

Become an achiever. Be a more positive person by adding the ability to think positively and develop a definite professional direction. I personally love a challenge. If I find situations that offer me a bit of a dilemma, that's when I thrive. The challenge makes me respond even more powerfully. It's about changing the path when needed. It's shifting your normal routine to fit what needs to be done to successfully face the challenge.

You'll be surprised at how your positive attitude will rub off on others around you. Pretty soon Monday mornings will be a positive event. I feel that Mondays are like getting "back to the gold mines" not the "salt mines" as many believe. Bad attitudes are worse than a case of the flu. The flu eventually clears up, but bad attitudes can actually kill a business. In the book, Joy at Work, Dennis Bakke begins by stating that 70 percent of us hate our jobs. How sad that is! If you fit into the 70 percent that hates getting up in the morning consider examining your purpose and rethink your direction. You only have one life, and it's time to start enjoying it, both on and off the job. If you are among the 30 percent, spread your positive attitude and your constructive approach to doing business. A positive attitude is catching so spread it around today!
