Be Happy In Your Work
When I get up in the morning, I can't wait to get to the office. Don't get me wrong, I love my family, and I cherish the time I spend with them, but I also love what I do in my professional life and look forward to the daily challenge. Some days are more productive than others and some are more profitable than others. But, you must always be prepared to deal with any situation that grabs you during the day.
There are a number of ways I maintain positive motivation. Because of my days in the Marine Corps, I learned very early to stay as physically fit as possible. I exercise daily, which keeps me physically and mentally active. That's extremely important in today's business world. Stress can overtake you quickly if you are not fit enough to handle the challenges of the day.
The fastest method I've found to fail is not to set positive, clear goals. All your personal and professional goals need to be very specific and measurable. On a regular basis, you need to examine the specific objective and determine your progress. Establish criteria to gauge whether or not you are on track. Your goals should lead you to realize and achieve all things you have ever wanted to have, to experience, to attain or to become. Then you need to do something to activate those goals. Develop your ability to visualize and strive to achieve your end results by continually focus on them and give them plenty of constructive energy until they become reality.
You must also maintain a positive attitude. If you are negative, then you can be sure negative things will result. It just happens that way. Try using more encouraging words through the course of your day. Don't look at a situation as though it were a problem. Solving that "problem" just could be the next "opportunity" you need to take ideas to the next level. And try not to get angry at people or events during the business day. That is counterproductive and only causes more stress in your life.
Most importantly, I enjoy being with the people I work with every day. It is important to surround yourself with a staff that is expert in what they do, not afraid to make the necessary tough decisions when required to do so and to fit into the corporate culture of the organization. I can honestly say that our company, PremiereTrade LLC, has the right people in the proper positions. Although the responsibilities change from time to time, we move forward on a daily basis. I enjoy watching our company grow through the professionalism, ingenuity and adaptability of my competent staff.
This month's issue features Wally Amos, a man who has personally experienced the "ups and downs" of business but never quits. Although he has known many levels of success and failure, he still enjoys the daily challenge of creating business that serves people's needs. He also stays on top of his game so he will be prepared to tackle any situation that he might run into during the course of a normal business day. Amos has always believed that he could "turn lemons into lemonade" and he has done so, very effectively, many times.
I hope you get up every morning looking forward to getting to your office. No matter what you do for a living, enjoy the day, enjoy the process and, most importantly, enjoy the people you work with and serve. Just determine that you will be happy in your work today. Remember, if you love what you do, you'll never work another day in your life.
