Develop A Dynamic Vision
At the recent James Dicks Financial Conference, I met many of you who have created a financial vision for yourself and your family. It was so exciting for me to realize that such a large group has already decided to take a stand and build a positive pathway toward personal financial security. It's important to believe in something, to take a stand that will improve life from this day forward.
As we approach another general election in this country, it is crucially important that you take a personal stand to voice your opinion using the vote. It is a powerful responsibility that can make all the difference in your life. Learn the issues, know what all the candidates represent, go to an election campaign event and meet those who are asking for your vote. They are asking you to select them as your representative, whether for the neighborhood, the state House or on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.
In order for you to select the proper candidate in the voting booth, you have to also know what you personally represent. It's important to do some soul searching before voting. What do you believe in? If you were running for political office, what would be listed on your personal platform? It might be fun to sit down and write down what you would run on if you were a political candidate this year. Give it a try. Once you do, you'll have a better indication of which of this year's candidates would best fit your beliefs. It's important; it's essential to maintain the continued philosophical growth of the nation.
In this month's issue of the James Dicks Magazine, we're featuring former Ohio Congressman John Kasich, who spent a number of productive years in Washington, D.C., and even ran for president in the 2000 election campaign. Kasich explains why he left the political scene and why he feels more useful doing what he does today, being an author and television commentator. He does contend that we must all take a stand and believe in something. We need to do our homework and not just vote for one candidate simply because we dislike the other, or vote for a candidate because he or she is a member of your party of choice. That is not a productive method of selecting the leadership of our country.
You have already made some very critical decisions that will affect your life through the proactive development of your personal trading skills. Just never forget that you also must express your opinion on who should become the members of our legislative teams in government. These people will affect your financial and physical well-being for many years to come. Don't allow your voice to get lost - make sure you vote. As John Kasich says, "Stand for Something." Although this sounds a bit naïve, I believe it is the basic foundation of this country. It takes a variety of opinions and skill sets to make this nation work smoothly. Become a part of the process; vote for your local, state and national officials. Stand for something as a vital member of our unique society.
