James E. Dicks Jr. is a United States Marine Corps veteran, an Emmy Award-winning documentary producer, and the author of eleven books across four unrelated categories: financial education, faith, leadership and fiction.
He wrote Forex Made Easy in 2003. McGraw-Hill published it in 2004, and it remains in print more than twenty years later, translated into five languages and reprinted more than twenty times. His books have sold over 250,000 copies worldwide and include The Forex Edge, Forex Trading Secrets, Operation Financial Freedom and How to Buy and Sell Real Estate for Financial Freedom, all published by McGraw-Hill, along with Success Mastery, co-authored with Jack Canfield of Chicken Soup for the Soul. His work has been featured by CNBC, FOX, CBS, ABC, NBC, Forbes, Newsweek, USA Today and The Wall Street Journal.
For six years he wrote, edited and published a national monthly magazine, every article and photograph produced in house, reaching more than fifty thousand readers a month in print and digital distribution.
He is executive director of PPD Films, which won an Emmy for A New Leash on Life, a military story, and drew a further Emmy nomination for its work on Folds of Honor. The company documents the missions of people in military service.
He served two terms as Florida State Chair of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve under the Department of Defense, where he is now Chair Emeritus, and was awarded the Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Public Service. He is president of the Seminole County Sheriff Foundation and of the St. Johns County Sheriff Foundation.
He is the founder of Information Defense Systems, one of the earliest cybersecurity firms built to protect high-frequency trading platforms and around-the-clock financial data centres, and in 2009 developed AI-driven autonomous trading systems. He is founder and chief executive of Commerce Publishing and of DIX Developments, a Florida real estate and land company.
He is a sixth-generation Floridian from a Plant City family. There is a school in Plant City that carries the family name, and a county park and recreation centre at Turkey Creek named for his great-grandfather, Earl W. Simmons.
He has written all of it with dyslexia, undiagnosed until high school.
He lives in Lake Mary, Florida, with his wife Deb and their children.
